With more than 75 affiliates (workers and volunteers) in 14 different programs,
FE works daily affirming people and accompanying them as they face different problems or handicaps. 
This includes searching for alternatives to assist in social integration, development of their abilities and in this way all of society can benefit from these different abilities. The programs are offered especially for the poorest families of Matagalpa so that they can have a more accessible world.

Special Families (FE) functions as an integral center to offer a variety of services to families, children, young people and person of all ages who have different abilities. This is because they are trying to find a more holistic approach to deal with the problems faced by people who have different abilities and who feel outside of the society. Each person needs to be able to work from their own abilities and connect with others in order to resolve the problems they face and have a more independent life. 

FE believes very much in building community and in educating for systemic change. Therefore there is a desire to develop a variety of programs and activities to be able to say to each other “You are not alone and we are in this together.”
